Taro Okamoto's Tower of the Sun from Expo '70 was sealed after the fair and reopened inside in 2018. A 41 m Tree of Life with 183 restored creatures climbs the core, and the lost Underground Sun has been recreated from photographs.

Why it's unique

There is one Tower of the Sun, and its interior, a 41 m tree of evolution climbing the core of a giant artwork, exists nowhere else.

What you do is go inside a monument most people only photograph, and climb the Tree of Life up its core.

Before you go

Book online; reservations close the day before. The set ticket covering the garden is better value than tower-only plus park entry.

Photography inside is limited (phone cases are lent). The lighting of the tower's eyes is under rescheduled repair, so the night view may be dark.
