Book a guided tour through the rooms of Gregangelo Herrera's house

27 themed spaces, six guests, no walk-ins

The only one in United StatesThe Gregangelo Museum

A timed visit to a private house on a quiet residential street, led room by room through mosaics, mirrors and painted spaces.

Why it's unique

One artist has spent four decades turning his own home into 27 themed spaces, and a guide walks six guests through them at a time. It is San Francisco Landmark 318.

Self-built art houses exist elsewhere, so the claim stops at the country and comes with low confidence. This one is a one-off by nature, because it is the work of one person in one house.

Before you go

This is a private home on a quiet street in what the museum itself calls a traditionally conservative neighbourhood. There are no walk-ins, ever, and you should not linger outside. Photos and video are banned inside.

"Riddle of the Sphinx" is the garden tour and "Into the Rabbit Hole" is the interior one, so check which you are buying if you came for the rooms indoors. The interior tour asks you to answer questions about your past and future, which suits some people more than others. Reseller listings are often non-refundable, so book through the museum's own box office. There are ten shallow steps at the door.
