Ikuno Ward is described by the tourism bureau as the area with the highest concentration of Koreans in Japan, and Miyuki-dōri, with about 150 shops, as Japan's largest Korea Town. The Osaka Korea Town History Museum opened there in April 2023.

Why it's unique

The tourism bureau calls Miyuki-dōri Japan's largest Korea Town, in the area with the country's highest concentration of Koreans.

What you do is walk from the market to the street to the museum, reading the community's history in the place it happened.

Before you go

Start in the maze of Tsuruhashi market by the station, walk to Miyuki-dōri for kimchi and chijimi, then the museum, which tells the area's (Ikaino's) history backwards from the present.

The ward puts visitors at about 2 million a year; few find the museum.
