Sleep in Nintendo's original 1930 head office

A hotel in the 1930 Nintendo office

The only one on EarthMarufukuro

Marufukuro is an 18-room hotel in Nintendo's former head office (completed 1930) on the company's founding street in Kagiya-chō, which the company left in 1959. It opened on 1 April 2022 with a new wing supervised by Tadao Ando.

Why it's unique

There is one original Nintendo head office. The 1930 building was office, family home and warehouse while the firm made hanafuda and karuta cards, and you can now sleep in it.

It is not a Nintendo-run site (the Nintendo Museum is in Uji), and the land and building still belong to the Yamauchi family, whose guest library "dNa" tells the company's history from their side.

Before you go

The 1930 building was office, family home and warehouse while the firm made hanafuda and karuta; the four wings are named for card suits. The guest library "dNa" tells Nintendo's history as the Yamauchi family sees it.

It is not a Nintendo-run site (the Nintendo Museum is in Uji), and the land and building still belong to the Yamauchi family. Treat it as a stay, not a drop-in: whether non-guests can eat at the restaurant is unclear. All-inclusive; launch rates were about ¥100,000 per room for two, with lower rates since. Run by Plan Do See.
