The Petronas Twin Towers rise 451.9 metres over the centre of Kuala Lumpur. The skybridge joins them at the 41st and 42nd floors, and a ticket takes you onto it and then up to the observation deck on 86.
Why it's unique
They are still the tallest twin towers in the world, thirty years after topping out. They lost the outright height record to Taipei 101 in 2004 and never lost this one, because nobody since has built a matched pair this tall. The skybridge is the highest two-storey skybridge anywhere.
The part worth knowing while standing on it is that the bridge is not rigidly fixed to either tower. Two structures of this height sway independently in wind, and a fixed connection would tear itself apart, so the bridge rests on spherical bearings and slides. You are standing on something deliberately not attached at both ends.
Before you go
Tickets are timed, capped daily, and sell out — book online well ahead rather than queueing at the counter, which is frequently pointless by mid-morning.
Go late afternoon. You get the city in daylight, the sunset, and the lights coming on across the Klang Valley, all inside one slot. The skybridge comes first and the deck on 86 second; most people spend too long on the bridge and rush the top.
