The step count is deliberate and specific. Mother Cabrini climbed 373 stairs daily to pray at a statue in Rome, and when the stairway was laid out in 1954 it was built to match that number exactly.
She was the first citizen of the United States ever canonised. The stairway is not decorative — it is a reproduction of a specific person's daily habit, at scale, on a mountainside.
