An amusement park operating on the same ground since 1908, with an Art Deco tower, an original midway, and a carousel that has been running since the year it opened.
Why it's unique
It is the last White City-style amusement park left in the United States. That style — electric light as the main attraction, a formal midway, ornamental towers — was everywhere in the early 1900s and every other example has been demolished or redeveloped.
So the distinction is not that it is old. It is that this is the only remaining place to see what that kind of park actually was, still working, with the original machinery still turning.
Before you go
Come for the architecture as much as the rides. The tower and the midway are why it matters, and both are best at dusk when the lighting comes on.
It is deliberately unmodernised, cash-heavy, and seasonal. That is the appeal rather than an oversight, but bring cash and check it is open.
