Where the coconut shake started
A roadside stall at Lot 130, Solok Kampung Bahagia, Klebang Besar, about 6 km west of the city on the coast road, blending coconut water and shredded coconut flesh with ice and vanilla ice cream.
Why it's unique
Klebang Original Coconut Shake is where the drink began: coconut water and shredded pandan coconut flesh blended with ice and vanilla ice cream, served with the flesh still in it. It started as a roadside stall in Klebang, got written up, and the queue grew long enough to obstruct the coastal road.
Every coconut shake stall in the country is downstream of this one, which is the argument for drinking it here rather than anywhere it has since spread to. There are imitators along the same stretch of road with almost identical signage, which is its own kind of evidence.
Before you go
Order the special, which is the standard shake with an extra scoop of vanilla on top. The plain one is the same drink without the point.
It is on the seafront road, so pair it with the submarine museum a kilometre away and the sunset at Klebang beach. Weekends are a car park; a weekday afternoon is a five-minute wait. Watch the signage, because the imitators along this stretch look almost identical. Drive or Grab, roughly fifteen minutes from the old town.
