Tap a rubber tree, then ride on
A guided ride of about 20 km in three hours through rubber smallholdings, oil palm, paddy and village lanes, mostly off-road, starting about 12 km from the old town with hotel pickup.
Why it's unique
The countryside starts fifteen minutes from Jonker Street, and the ride runs through Kampung Paya Dalam, Asahan, Chinchin and Sungai Rambai on mostly off-road tracks: rubber smallholdings, oil palm, paddy, fruit orchards, and Chinese and Indian villages, about 20 km in three hours.
Village cycle tours exist across Southeast Asia, so the claim rests on the specific combination. Stopping to tap a rubber tree and process the latex is possible because this is one of the oldest rubber-planting regions in the country, and that stop is the part of the ride you could not simply do somewhere else with a similar bicycle and a similar lane.
Before you go
There is a night ride at 7pm as well as the 8.30am and 3pm departures, and the night one is the interesting choice in this climate, because the day rides are hot even at 8.30.
Reckon on roughly RM140 per person for the day rides and RM170 at night, with a four-person minimum on the night ride. The operator has bikes and adaptations for children, seniors and non-cyclists, so not really cycling is not a reason to skip it. Booking is required.
