A century-long body dispute
The grave of William Cody — Pony Express rider, army scout, and the showman who effectively invented how the American West is imagined — on top of Lookout Mountain, with a museum beside it.
Why it's unique
Whether he should be here at all has been disputed for over a century. Cody, Wyoming maintains he wanted to be buried there and that Denver secured the body under questionable circumstances, and the argument has never really been settled.
The grave is set in concrete under many tons of rock, which the museum will tell you was for security reasons and which has done nothing to quiet the theory that someone might attempt to move him.

The dispute is the interesting part and, to the museum's credit, it addresses the question directly rather than avoiding it.
