Stand at the pond where a B-52 came down between the houses

A small pond in a dense residential quarter, with the broken undercarriage and fuselage sections of an American bomber still protruding from the water where it crashed in 1972.
Why it's unique
A B-52 was shot down over the city on 27 December 1972 and fell into a small pond in a residential quarter. The wreckage was never recovered. About four metres of it still breaks the surface, in an ordinary neighbourhood pond with houses on every side and washing strung above the water.
Of everything brought down over the city in those twelve days, this is the piece that stayed exactly where it landed. It is not a museum, there is no ticket and no barrier, and the effect of finding a bomber in somebody's back garden is quite unlike seeing the same aircraft on a plinth.
Before you go
There is no approach road, no signage in English and no visitor infrastructure of any kind — you walk between houses down a residential lane off Hoang Hoa Tham to reach it. Look for the small paved edge on one side; that is the whole viewing area.
People live around this pond and use it. Keep your voice down, do not use a drone, and do not treat somebody's doorstep as a vantage point. It sits a few minutes from the mausoleum complex, so it fits naturally either side of that visit.
